(Monarda citriodora)
Also known as Lemon Bee Balm and Lemon Horse Mint this annual herb native to North America and Mexico produces clusters of stems rising 60cm tall from a single base topped with a delightful whorl of pink blooms with purple spots that are highly attractive to bees and butterflies
Releasing a strong citrus aroma when the leaves are crushed, lemon mint is often used to make herbal teas, but chopped leaves are also added to salads or used in baking and roasting. The flowering stems make good dried flower arrangements and potpourri.
