Native Habitat:Madagascar, in dry deciduous forests.

Description: Broad spreading tropical tree popular for its bright red-orange flowers and dense shade. Flowers are large up to 8cm, upper most petal with orange and white spots appearing in November/December. Leaves are compound feathery and bright green 30 to 50cm long. Often used in street plantings and public spaces and large gardens for its welcome shade in hot climates.

Cultivation: Performs best in tropical to sub-tropical climates, at best frost free conditions. Tolerant of drought, and can become deciduous if severe or in areas with very marked dry seasons. Evergreen in areas with sufficient year round moisture. Also tolerant of salty conditions.
